Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know

Can I change my hair parting?

Yes, you can usually change the parting of a wig, especially if the wig is made of real hair or high-quality synthetic fibers. This is only not possible with very inexpensive models with fixed monofilament partings. Here are some tips on how to change the parting:

  1. Handling: Be careful not to damage the structure of the wig. Avoid strong pulling or tugging at the hair strands.
  2. Water or styling products: For human hair wigs, it can help to lightly spray the hairline with water or a light styling product to mold it into the desired shape. For synthetic wigs, there are also products that make reshaping easier. See our care products under synthetic hair.
  3. Heat styling: For heat-resistant synthetic wigs, careful heat styling is possible. Make sure the temperature is not too high to avoid damaging the fibers. Hold the straightener/curling iron in position briefly and then turn it off until the hair has cooled down.
  4. Combing: Use a wide-toothed comb or a special brush for wigs to gently guide the hair in the desired direction.
  5. Clips: To fix the new parting, you can use clips until the wig stays in shape.
  6. Professional adjustment: If you are unsure, you can also consult a professional who can help you change the parting.

Remember that it is best to clean and care for the wig regularly to prolong its lifespan.

Which quality is right for me?

When choosing the right wig cap construction, it's important to know the different types and understand their respective advantages and disadvantages. Here are the differences between machine-made, monofilament, and hand-tied models:

1. Machine-Made Wigs

  • Description: These wigs are made from prepared machine-sewn wefts and sewn by hand.

  • Advantages:

  • More affordable than monofilament models.

  • Robust and more stretchable.

  • Good option for daily use and on a lower budget.

  • Disadvantages:

  • Less natural-looking hairline and less styling flexibility.

  • Lower breathability, which can be uncomfortable on hot days.
  • Not as suitable for longer hair due to temperature and weight.

  • Area of Application: Ideal for everyday use if you are looking for a durable and cost-effective solution.

2. Monofilament Wigs

  • Description: These wigs have a monofilament top that looks like a scalp, where the hairs are hand-knotted.

  • Advantages:

  • Very natural-looking hairline, as the scalp is visible through the material.

  • Versatile styling options (hair can be styled in different directions).

  • More breathable and lighter than machine-made models.

  • Good for sensitive scalps.

  • Disadvantages:

  • Generally more expensive than machine-made wigs.
  • Not as stretchy as machine-made wigs.

  • Area of Application: Ideal for people who want a natural look, e.g., for special occasions or for daily use with sensitive scalps or for a good wearing experience.

3. Hand-Tied Wigs

  • Description: With these wigs, individual hairs are hand-knotted into the base, which gives them a very realistic appearance.

  • Advantages:

  • Highest wearing comfort and best adaptability to the head shape.

  • Very natural look, as the hair moves like real hair.

  • Many styling options, as the hair can be laid in any direction.

  • The airiest and lightest wigs.

  • Disadvantages:

  • Higher priced than monofilament wigs.

  • Least stretchy models.
  • No very short sides possible.

  • Area of Application: Perfect for people who have very high demands on the appearance and comfort of the wig.

Conclusion

The choice of the right wig cap construction depends on your individual needs and preferences. If you are looking for a natural look and maximum comfort, monofilament and hand-tied wigs might be the right choice for you. If you are looking for a budget-friendly approach, the machine-made wig is a good option.

Is synthetic hair or real hair better?

Whether synthetic hair or real hair is better for wigs depends on various factors, including personal preferences, budget, and intended use. Here are some pros and cons of both materials:

Synthetic Hair:

Advantages:

  • Price: Synthetic wigs are more affordable than real hair wigs.
  • Easy Care: They retain their shape and styling better and require less maintenance.
  • Color Selection: Often available in a wide variety of colors and styles.
  • Weather Resistant: Many synthetic wigs are resistant to moisture and temperature, so they hold up better in different weather conditions.

Disadvantages:

  • Natural Look: Inexpensive synthetic hair can look less natural than real hair and often has a different sheen.
  • Heat Resistance: Many synthetic wigs cannot be styled with heat (though heat-resistant varieties do exist).
  • Durability: Inexpensive synthetic wigs can wear out more quickly over time.

Real Hair:

Advantages:

  • Natural Look: Real hair wigs often look more natural and feel better.
  • Styling Options: They can be blow-dried, straightened, or curled, as they can be treated like real hair.
  • Durability: They generally have a slightly longer lifespan if well-maintained.

Disadvantages:

  • Price: Real hair wigs are more expensive.
  • Maintenance Effort: They require more care, including washing, drying, and styling.

Conclusion:

The decision therefore depends on your individual needs and priorities. If you are looking for a more affordable, easy-care solution, synthetic hair might be the right choice. However, if you value a natural look and are willing to invest more time and money in care, real hair may be the better option.

If I don't want bangs, will the wig be visible?

Whether a wig is noticeable depends on several factors, including the quality of the wig, the type of hair, and how well it fits your head size. If you don't want bangs and plan to wear a wig, there are a few tips to ensure it looks natural:

  1. Choose a high-quality wig: High-quality wigs made from human hair or high-grade synthetic materials often look more natural than cheaper options.
  2. Fit: Make sure the wig fits snugly on your head. Wigs have adjustable straps that allow for a better fit.
  3. Hairline: A natural hairline can help make the wig less noticeable. Wigs with a lace-front hairline look particularly realistic.
  4. Coloring and Styling: You can also style or color your hair to better match your wig.

Overall, it is therefore possible to wear a wig without bangs without it being noticeable. With the right choice and care, it will look natural.

My wig is slipping, what should I do?

A lack of or limited hold can have many causes.

First, you should measure your head and check the size of your wig. If the size is incorrect, switch models.

If the size is correct, the following recommendations apply (usually a combination of several reasons):

- Check for correct fit - the hairline is usually worn too low (a hand's width above the eyebrows)

- Wig fits too tightly - If the wig rides up, it is often due to an overly tight adjustment. Many people adjust the wig tighter because it slips. However, this tightens the adjustment elastics and the wig slips even more. Contrary to initial intuition, please adjust the wig to be larger.

- Incorrect placement of the wig with existing bio hair - The wig always moves as much as the underlying surface. This means that the bio hair should be secured flat or tucked under a wig cap or a silicone band. After that, you can put on the wig correctly (see correct placement).

- Removing the wig labels helps somewhat to improve the hold.

If the combination of immediate measures is not yet sufficient, there are other ways to improve the hold.

- Wig moves at the nape - Sew silicone between the size adjustments. Also possible at the sides or on the top of the head.

- Flat back of the head - If you have a flat back of the head, the wig may have a little more room to move at the back. This usually cannot be seen, and the wig's hold is also secure. If it still bothers you, darts in the wig can help.

My wig doesn't fit properly, what could be the reason?

There can be many reasons why a wig doesn't fit properly. Often, the wrong size model is chosen.

How to measure head circumference correctly

To determine the correct size for your wig, first measure your head circumference. Proceed as follows:

  1. Measure head circumference: Place a measuring tape around your head, as shown in the illustration. Alternatively, you can use a string and then measure its length with a ruler.

This table provides initial guidance. For an optimal fit, it is recommended to try on different models or consider a custom-made wig.

The correct wig size is crucial for your comfort. An incorrect size can cause the wig to slip or exert uncomfortable pressure.
